Position : Field Manager - Team Leader (Lao national) Location : Dakcheung district (Xekong province) & Phouvong district (Attapeu province) Contract Length : Full-time (24 months) Starting date : 1st of April 2020

Purpose : SOFRECO, a leading company in consultancy and technical assistance for sustainable economic and social development, is seeking an independent consultant for a Field Manager - Team Leader position for the Biodiversity Conservation Corridors project. This project is designed to assist the Government of Lao PDR in their efforts to reduce emissions from deforestation and/or forest degradation, promote sustainable management of forests and enhance forest carbon stocks (“REDD+”). To encourage this to happen at community level, the project provides support for the development of alternative livelihoods activities for participating villagers, to reduce their reliance on swidden agriculture and forest resources.

Responsibilities of the Field Manager - Team Leader :

  • Responsibility for the planning, organization, and management of the team and logistics for timely field implementation
  • Providing day to day management of the team members, their work plans, outputs and quality of services
  • Facilitating and participating in National, Provincial and District level workshop and training activities associated with the livelihoods development activities
  • Facilitating the vocational training for selected beneficiaries in various areas of study in coordination with the Provincial Project Management Offices (PPMO)
  • Monitoring activities and undertaking timely actions to resolve issues identified in areas of management and / or technical aspects during implementation
  • Ensuring activities are undertaken in accordance with accepted best practices, the Environmental Assessment and Review Framework (EARF), Gender Action Plan (GAP), Social Safeguards (SS) and Ethnic Group Development Plan (EGDP) of the Project
  • Reporting to the Livelihoods Management Advisor, GIC Team Leader and NPMO as per schedules and as requested 

Required Education, Skills & Experience :

  • University graduate
  • Experience in managing rural development / poverty alleviation programmes
  • Excellent management (administrative and financial), analytical (problem solving and decision making) and communication (both oral and written) skills will be an advantage.
  • Good command of English language (read, write and speak)
